Adrian’s Transformation Story

I trained with Physique Transformations since  January 2016 until July 2016. I was unhappy with myself for a long while and the crux of this was my issues with weight. My parents and I decided that it may be best that I seek the help of a personal trainer.

They emphasised diet and more importantly nutrition as a big part of realising my goal. My trainer explained that you didn’t need a complete overhaul to be healthy and comfortable with your body. He also taught me that regular exercise was key and that if you did stray from the path once or twice, it wasn’t the end of the world. He was really supportive and enthusiastic.

To date I have lost 27kg and counting. I started at 127 kg and I am now at 100 kg, just 1kg away from my goal. I am now comfortable walking into a gym and wearing nicer clothes. There is no comparison to how I felt 6 months ago. My weight problems affected not only my physical health but my mental health. I am now a happier person with a new and improved positive outlook on life.

Chelsea’s Transformation Journey

I’ve been training with Kate Hearne for 9 months, I decided to take on Personal Training for weight loss motivations and to be able to train with my partner. I have since lost 10kgs and have gone from 105kg to 95kg.

Kate helped me reach my goals through targeted training, with encouragement and monitoring of my calories via MFP, texts through the week with comments/advice on calories and progress, advice on macros, stretching; also, setting mini goals, customising training (and having a positive, friendly manner) so I enjoy training, being flexible with times/days to minimise missing any sessions due to other commitments, coming to my house so there is no escape of excuses!

Since I’ve begun personal training with Kate, I feel more optimistic that weight loss is possible and sustainable without fad diets or massive lifestyle sacrifices, rather better choices and moderation.

Why did you decide to do Personal Training?
At the beginning of the year I was out of shape and unmotivated. I wanted to lose a few kilos and tone and shape my body. I also hoped regular exercise would make me happier and more positive overall. I knew I wouldn’t be able to do it alone – I’m super busy and find it hard to stay motivated unless I have someone keeping me accountable.

How did your trainer help you realise your goals?
For the past 6 months my sister and I have been seeing Kate twice a week. The focus of our sessions is usually strength training, with a bit of cardio as well. Our sessions are always fun and challenging. Kate changes our program every few weeks and always listening to anything we have to say and incorporates it. Kate also gives us flexible diet guidelines (approx calories and macros etc) which she has tweaked over-time, as we’ve now reached our goals and want to maintain our current weights.

How do you feel now compared to before you began working with your personal trainer?
Regular exercise has made such a huge difference to my outlook on life – I have never felt so positive, motivated and happy. When I first decided to start personal training, I didn’t know if I would be able to keep it up for long. However, exercise has now become a habit – one I hope I never give up – and I always look forward to my sessions with Kate. I never want to give them up!

Kate is an incredible trainer and person – she is kind, supportive, positive and really listens. I cannot recommend Kate enough. She is wonderful.

Other relevant information:

I didn’t have much weight to lose – only about 6 kilos – but I reached my goal weight in a really healthy way over time (I hate crash diets!!). Before I started training with Kate, I never had any muscles at all – my chicken fillet arms were always a bit of a joke between my friends and I! – but I’m now constantly surprised when I look in the mirror. It’s been so rewarding seeing my fitness improve over time.

Why did you decide to do Personal Training?
I had my 30th birthday coming up and wanted to be in the best shape of my life, and to also lose the extra few kilos that I had gained.

How did your trainer help you realise your goals?
Kate is an amazing personal trainer. She’s really great at listening to your goals and adapting her personal training sessions to suit. And she’s a really great motivator without being over the top or cheesy. When I signed up to personal training, I was only thinking about doing it in the short term…but Kate is such a great trainer I never want to give it up! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kate to anyone.

How do you feel now compared to before you began working with your personal trainer?
I feel so much better than I did six months ago, it’s been a complete 360! Not only did I lose the few extra kilos I had put on, but I am now much stronger, fitter and more toned. I also have way more energy and am really happy to have made exercise part of my every day life.

Other relevant information:

I’ve never had much muscle, and now I’m lifting weights, doing push-ups, and am way stronger than I’ve ever been! I only had about five kilos to lose, but I’ve lost the weight and gained muscle, too.

I trained with Joe Murphy for approximately 8 months and it was the best decision I ever made to look after my health, fitness and physique. I’m 45 years old and after training with Joe I currently feel like I’m 20 again. For many years my weight has always fluctuated up and down. I was doing so much cardio training from time to time getting my weight down but I could never ever be able to maintain it. Above all that I used to look very unhealthy when I used to slim down from cardio training and couldn’t understand why. In the end I gave up trying and let myself go for years until I got introduced to Joe.
Joe taught me everything I needed to understand about my body. Not only did he help me reach my weight goal, he also helped me maintain muscle tissue and I only burnt off body fat and at the same time I gained more muscle tissue. I’m now a lot slimmer than I ever was in my entire life but looking healthy at the same time.

I began training with Joe back in 2007. Since then, Joe has changed the way I thought about nutrition and training.

Initially, I thought only about losing weight and he has given me great advice on a healthy lifestyle.
I used to reach a weight I was happy with, and stop training but then the weight naturally came back. I was a yo-yo dieter. When I reached a certain weight I would go back to Joe as I knew he would get me into the right frame of mind and I would get the results I wanted.

Throughout my two pregnancies I stopped looking after myself and did not exercise. I reached 80 kilos during my second pregnancy and at only 5ft this was a huge amount.

I returned to Joe after my second pregnancy determined to change. I did and am the lightest I’ve ever been since high school, now weighing in at 55kg.

Joe is an excellent motivator. He has thought me to stop looking at what I haven’t achieved and to be proud of what I have achieved. I am now the fittest and healthiest I have ever been. Without Joe’s knowledge and guidance I would never have reached this level of fitness. I am now pregnant with my third child and I have vowed to continue my training with Joe and stay focused throughout.*

I have been training with Chris from Physique Transformations for almost 5 years now.

Over this period of time, Chris has taught me that its not just about losing weight as I initially thought. I’ve learned that you don’t just ‘lose weight” without addressing your diet, improving your nutritional intake, as well as training appropriately. Physique Transformations

Before I began training with Chris, I had already begun a mission to get my life back. By April 2012, I was around 130 kilos and realised that I didn’t care about my body anymore. I called a friend who got me started in a local park with some exercises and I was walking an hour a day. In June I joined the local gym, used the bike and treadmill and was pulled into a yoga class which proved to be a great early help to my fitness journey, with over 300 classes in the first year.

In July, I realised I needed serious help to really get the results I thought were significant. I asked Chris Nasr to train me and help me lose weight. We did not weigh in for several weeks, so I’m not quite sure where we started from  – but I would say around 115kg. Over 8 months and seeing Chris twice a week (which I still do) I went down to 74.1kg.

We decided to start strength training and I have not looked back. It has not been easy starting at age 45 (and I’m now 47), but it has made me a stronger person. I’ve only missed training 3 times due to illness and once for the birth of my pups. I am a vegetarian and mostly vegan (since 18 years of age).

I am very grateful I made the choice to train with Chris who has the right balance of discipline, understanding and encouragement regardless of my age and lack of background in fitness.

I started training with Angus in Dec’15, and at that time I was quite unfit and over-weight. Now roughly 6 months later I have lost nearly 20Kgs (3 dress sizes), and feel stronger than I can remember ever feeling. When I started training with Joe I was a skinny 70kg and I wanted more muscle mass.

Initially Joe tested my structural balance and flexibility, helped strengthen any body parts that were out of balance and tight, then got me started on building up some size. Since then, Joe has taught me so much about training.

How to progress my programs so that I could achieve my goals, but more importantly how to stick to it day in, day out. Joe has also shared his passion for fitness with me, which has encouraged me to start my own career in the fitness industry.

I am now 93kg and have added over 20kg of muscle mass. As a result I feel a lot more confident in myself and I’m loving it!*

Nothing kills self-confidence quite like mandatory school ‘sport’ when, like me, you grew up a diminutive, bookish, Asian girl in a western culture who never really had the opportunity to train and enjoy sport in a supportive team environment. The reserve bench was probably behind the toilet block smoking pot in most cases anyway. That didn’t stop the teachers rolling their eyes at my approach: that scrawny, uncoordinated kid? Well I suppose she’d do a little better than Bob -he’s got a broken leg! So when I left the horrors of school sport behind for uni and a professional life, and there were no preconceptions to labour under, I decided to try a little experiment. With the right coaching and the right work, well logically, why couldn’t I whack on some serious muscle, gain a truck load of strength and get super fit? Rocky, here we come!!

Fortunately, I was referred to Joe – someone who takes the science and technique of strength and fitness training seriously and intelligently, rightfully eschewing what’s trendy for what works. I regard my training with Joe as a partnership in health and fitness and over the past five years, I have developed the ability and the confidence that comes from knowing one can do something really, really well to pursue everything from cycling the Sydney to Gong ride for breakfast, making a netball competition final, travelling to Osaka to compete in an international dragon boat race and trekking 45 kilometres through the Blue Mountains. Joe proved that with the right training and loads of commitment and motivation, it is possible to completely, as his business name says, transform your physique. You probably wouldn’t know me now from the scrawny teenager I was back then. Being able to pump out eight or nine chin-ups is not just for show, it changes a whole mindset and pushes the boundaries of what you think you’re capable of. Know the technique, apply it, and it’s impossible not to see results. It’s not rocket science but that’s only because Joe has been heading up my training regime from day 1.*

After scans showing narrowing of the C5/6 disc space and thoracic scoliosis plus a problem with both the right and left rotator cuffs, add arthritic knees with a torn meniscus and spurs on the right ankle; I was a mess.

My injuries stem from my military career and my enjoyment of soccer. I have been told that if I don’t have surgery on my shoulders and knees I will suffer a debilitating future.

I decided that I wanted to treat my injuries through exercise and that’s where Joe kicked in. His exercise routines have provided structural strength and added flexibility. The exercise routines have progressively been amended to accommodate for my improvement.

The training was able to get be back on the soccer field and over the course of the training we have not just focused on structural and flexibility but also added routines to increase my speed. Of course there have been added benefits, weight control, improved immune system and a happier family.

It feels very cool that I can now mix it up with youngsters half my age on the soccer field, I can bench press my body weight (70Kg), this may not sound impressive but noting I couldn’t lift 30Kg without pain, I’m pretty pleased.

I can’t impress enough on the benefits I have gained from the training provided by Joe, add a healthy diet and regular maintenance through a Chiropractor or Physio or massage to keep your structural systems purring away.*

When I first started with Joe in March of 2012 I was a few months off turning 30 (somewhat of a life crisis kicked in) hovering at 80Kg.

I had bad a knee and felt like I was close to 50 years old I used to train but it was ineffective as I never had any real direction. My diet had much to be desired as years of working long hours with minimal sleep had sent me on a spiral on bad health habits, eating a lot of comfort food and high sugar everything.

My initial goal was to be extremely fit for one of my life goals, which was my Second Dan Black Belt. something that I had postponed on several occasions over the years. When I started with Joe, my grading was coming up in two months time. In those two months there was a dramatic change. I had lost body fat, gained lean muscle and had a massive increase in cardio endurance. I got my Second Dan Black Belt and almost 2 years later people are still commenting on the level of fitness I had during the 2 hours of my grading.

Post grading I continued to see Joe, and the results have not stopped. When I started I couldn’t lift my body weight once, and now am able to do 20 chin-ups in a row. I am continually reminded, especially by people I have not seen in a while, about how good I look and how much weight I have lost. This has definitely been a confidence builder.An additional benefit is that through Joe’s knowledge; he has provided methods and techniques that have meant I have been able to avoid knee surgery. I feel 20 years younger!*

I started personal training (PT) with Chris in 2009. Prior to that I had played a lot of team sport but had never done weight training. I couldn’t believe the difference the training made to my strength and toning – even just doing a one hour session per week.

I have played field hockey for over 40 years and struggled with lower back pain and calf injuries. The strength and flexibility I have gained from my PT with Chris alleviated that completely.

For Chris, his first priority is my safety – he is always careful with my technique to ensure that I don’t injure myself. He changes the program regularly and adjusts it depending on my activities outside the gym. He is motivating without being in anyway bossy or intimidating. I feel completely comfortable training with him and would highly recommend his services to anyone wanting to try PT.*
